"Good...
Now Great"
Sweet Adelines from 15 regions, including East coast,
West coast, Alaska and as far away as Perth, Australia,
met in Richardson, Texas, for the first ever Part Shop
November 11-13, 2005. From the looks on their faces and
the sound of their voices, a good time was had by all.
If it could have been more fun, well, we just don't know
how.
The Part Shop attendees impressed the whole faculty by
arriving with full knowledge of their individual parts
of "My Buddy." From this impressive beginning,
the faculty was able to move smoothly into all kinds of
work on consistency and artistry.
One of the highlights of the weekend was their performance
of "My Buddy" for the "civilians"
who came to hear the Saturday night show. The party really
got started as Rumors and Rich-Tones sang! Then the whole
thing was followed by impromptu performances by attending
quartets and even the entire music team (plus a few, I
think) of the Song of Atlanta chapter.
Special recognition was given to Helen Bolton for traveling
the farthest (Perth, Australia), and to Jan Matthews and
Alice Devine for traveling to the Part Shop all the way
from Alaska. We were also happy to recognize the 11 members
of the Vienna Falls Chapter (the highest percentage from
one chapter) and the 14 members of the Song of Atlanta
Chapter, including their entire music team. Way to go!!!
Our thanks to all the participants for making it exactly
what we wanted it to be!
